Sarah Hughes is an artist, composer and performer and uses a variety of disciplines such as, sculpture, improvisation, performance, print publications and text scores. She uses these diverse approaches in order to explore the same subject matter or create new perspectives about a uniform idea. Her sculptural practice is concerned with the play between improvisation and composition fuelled by her career as a composer. There is an inherent contingency to a majority of Hughes work manifested through a constant reworking of the same sculptures to create new compositional arrangements, repurposing sketchbooks as screen prints or re-appropriating old sections of work to create new installations.
