Workshop

Plasticine Portraits with Wilfrid Wood

Upper Gallery, Cass Sculpture Foundation

Tickets: £30.00 (members £20.00)

The aim of this workshop is to create a portrait head out of plasticine. It could be a self portrait, someone you know, a famous person or even your dog!

14:00 - 17:00

Join satirical sculptor Wilfrid Wood for an afternoon of unique portraiture. We will start by drawing the subject and exaggerating or reducing the features slightly. Then we will take a lump of plasticine, gradually moulding the eye sockets, nose, lips etc. and finally adding hair. You can take your portrait home or squash it up to do another!

Tickets must be purchased in advance, please click this link to book your place.

Included in ticket price: materials (plasticine, tools, paper, pencils), entrance to Cass Sculpture Foundation on the day of the event, tea, coffee and biscuits.

To bring with you on the day: a mobile phone will enable you to take a picture of yourself or someone else in the room to use as a reference for your portrait, alternatively bring a printed photograph of the person you would like to sculpt.

About the workshop leader: Wilfrid Wood is a satirical sculptor. He started out as a headbuilder on the TV programme Spitting Image. Now he makes heads and figures entirely by hand. They depict famous people, invented characters and friends. He uses cheap materials like polymer clay, papier mâché and heaps of plasticine. He is commissioned to sculpt portraits and independently exhibits his work in galleries. Wood is inspired by faces, bodies, fashion, friends, celebrities and animals. He lives and works in Hackney, East London.

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled. Tickets must be booked via our website. Booking will close at 5pm the day before the event is due to take place.
