Description

'But I Feel Fine' is in keeping with the rest of Ostenberg's athletic and exultant sculptural oeuvre which frequently makes reference to acrobatics and the circus. The piece incorporates Ostenberg's recurrent themes of horses, athletes and the circle or sphere. All are combined to create a piece in which movement and dynamism appear to have been freeze-framed.

'But I Feel Fine' captures a fleeting moment of equilibrium and, as Jan E. Adimann has stated, 'seeks to achieve the paradoxical, ie a representation of dynamic stasis.' In doing so the work conveys a sense of hope through its depiction of strength and endurance. With this in mind 'But I Feel Fine,' and Ostenberg's work in general, can be regarded as a physical realisation of the indomitable human spirit.
